You Can Lead a Horse to Water, but ...

What makes one thirsty for God and His Word? My constant heart’s desire is, “Lord, keep me thirsty for You and Your Word,” as described in Psalm 42:1-2: “As a deer pants for streams of water, so I long for you, O God. I thirst for God, the living God.” Psalm 63:1 says, “O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for You. My soul thirsts for You, my whole body longs for You in this parched and weary land where there is no water.”

My prayer for my children, my neighbors and those I teach is, “Lord, would you create a thirsty heart in them for You and Your Word.”

Salt Blocks 3

It’s been said that you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink. However, you can make him thirsty so he will drink. How? Try putting out salt blocks!

What are the salt blocks God uses to create thirsty environments?

  • ...could it be the pain, problems and unpredictable circumstances that He allows in my life?

  • ...could it be others’ observations of me listening, learning and living His Word by faith?

  • ...could it be the Living Water being spilled out of me that makes one thirsty for God?

Could that be what Jesus meant in Matthew 5:13: “You are the salt of the earth.”

Would you join me in praying, “Lord, make me a salt block, which makes others (list specific individuals) thirsty for You and Your Word?”

Psalm 42 & 63; Matthew 5:13

What is NBS2GO?

NBS2GO = Neighbor Bible Studies 2GO - is simply the packaging of ideas, resources, and inspiration to equip believers to launch and multiply Bible study groups.

What's the big deal about a Bible study group?

Like a one-room schoolhouse, a Bible study group brings together a wide range of seekers and Christ-followers to study, discuss, and encourage one another toward life application of God’s Word. This blending of spiritual maturity levels creates a dynamic, life-transforming community. Friendships are formed, and group members are equipped to minister to others where they do life. Life transformation and multiplication!
