Revision: Invitation to Field Test 6-Week 2GO LENT Study
If you are like me, it seems like time creeps through the winter months leading up to spring. Then suddenly Good Friday arrives, we go to church on Easter and Monday begins the week again. This monumental event of my faith comes with little awareness or forethought. Somehow I feel I have missed out on a season of anticipation. What if you and I don’t “do Easter” that way this year? What if we spend time purposely preparing our hearts and minds for this incredible celebration? The LENT study is meant to do exactly that.
The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ have perplexed and amazed all of humanity. Did Jesus Christ really rise from the grave? All of Christianity pivots on this one question. He either accomplished the most epic event in all of life, or he did not. He claimed to be God in human form. He claimed to forgive sin. The weight of these claims alone is worthy of consideration.
Easter Sunday is the annual celebration of His resurrection. Lent (from Latin, meaning fortieth) is the forty days from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday. Early Christians stepped out of their normal routine to devote special time for prayer, lament, and repentance. This continues today as we reflect on Christ’s journey to the cross. How can you appropriately prepare your heart to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord?
This six-week study is meant to do just that. Come and witness the last week of Jesus’ life. Observe the accusers, the innocent bystanders, and the hopeful followers. Each day as you read, meditate, and apply God’s Word to your life, you will have an increased awareness of who Jesus is. You will be challenged to learn the facts, interpret their meaning, and apply the Scriptures to your own heart, mind, and soul.
The Lamb of God is with us. His name is Jesus. He conquered sin and he conquered the grave.
