We never dreamed that a partnership with YouVersion, the world’s most widely downloaded Bible app, would bear nearly as much fruit for the Kingdom of God as it has in the last three years! August 5, 2020, was the start of a unique opportunity that has propelled NBS2GO to reach nearly 400,000 people across the world in 39 languages. We can confidently say that this partnership was established, and the work is sustained by consistent and fervent prayer.
What's New?
To grow up with and observe a mom who is consistently in God’s Word is a gift I cherish! I’ve witnessed her take time in the mornings to pull away in the quiet and dedicate time to prayer and reading Scripture. Not only was it for herself, but it was to posture herself in a way that allowed her to help other women in our neighborhood study His Word.
When simple tools to study Scripture are accessible in someone’s native language, new doors open to learning about God’s Word in ways not available before! Our desire at NBS2GO is to provide ways for just that to happen. Because God’s Word is “living and active” we pray for and work toward this goal. We created a short 5-minute video that provides an overview of the Bible studies as well as translation instructions. It truly does not get much easier than this to help a brother or sister in Christ access materials that help dig deep in God’s Word; something we may so easily take for granted. We would love your partnership by watching the video then pray about how you may be able to help! Maybe you know someone who speaks another language and who has a heart to help translate this short tool!
When our Neighborhood Bible Study celebrated its 20th year last month, I remembered our tenuous beginnings. I shared with our nearly 50 members how I was challenged to begin an NBS in the neighborhood, but really had no desire to step out. One of our members said to me later, “Jan, what if you had said ‘No!’ Think about all we would have missed!”
The sweet young homeless girl came up to us and said, “This is the best Easter I’ve ever had!” We were blessed with these precious words when our Neighborhood Bible Study served 70 children and their parents living in a homeless facility just a few miles from where we live. God took us there on Good Friday, to teach us what we are studying in Paul’s letter to the Colossians, “as His chosen people we are to clothe ourselves with compassion and kindness, and bear with each other.” I didn’t realize it at the time, but as a good teacher sometimes does, God was taking us on a field trip and allowing us to experience His teaching on a practical level, transforming our hearts and lives. And at the same time, He was loving these families in hard places through us. I love it that our Bible Study can impact not only our neighborhood, but our community as well.
