When God Whispered to Me

I am in awe, humbled, and incredibly grateful for having a front row seat to watch the unfolding of the clear vision God gave me ten years ago. Before the sun rose on May 5, 2010, God whispered to me, “I am awakening an unprecedented number of hearts in neighborhoods. I’ve given you the passion, twenty-two years of experience, and simple tips and tools to encourage and equip Christ followers everywhere to begin and multiply neighborhood Bible studies.”

I will never forget my utter surprise and yet calm assurance that I was not being called to “do” something for God, but I was simply being invited to listen and follow Him. At that moment my eyes were drawn to watch our backyard “awaken” to the sunrise. I was mesmerized by the wonder of God’s words quietly spoken to me and felt a fresh awareness and blessing of being His.

Unsure how to proceed yet completely confident God would guide... 

I invited a small group of neighborhood Bible study leaders together for twenty-four hours of listening prayer and fasting. It was during this gathering that Neighbor Bible Studies 2GO was born.

Little did I know that the steps of faith I took twenty-three years earlier to prayer walk my neighborhood and plant a small seed of a Bible study would become the fertile ground for a global movement. I could never have imagined the bushels of fruit that multiplied from those tiny seeds.

Over the past ten years God has opened countless doors for globally sowing seeds of prayer and God’s Word. For example, our 2GO Bible Study Series has been translated into more than thirty languages and is being used in over forty-three countries. We dream of the day when every community around the world is transformed through the study of God’s Word. Our mission is simply to encourage and equip Christ followers to begin and multiply Bible study groups with the people God has placed around them.

I feel so honored to be a part of the vision God blessed me with ten years ago. I am confident that as I continue to soak in God’s presence and saturate myself in His Word and prayer, He will be faithful to guide me as I listen intently to His heart and follow Him intentionally, by faith, simply “knitting the next row” He sets before me.
