Debbie McGoldrick

Debbie is passionate about loving God, His Word and her neighbors. Since 1989, she has been planting and watering seeds of love and truth in the hearts of her neighbors through leading a Neighborhood Bible Study. The bushels of fruit – transformed individuals, marriages and families – give her the desire to see NBS multiplied worldwide.

She loves God’s promise in Isaiah 55:11 (NLT), and she continually claims it for His Word planted through Neighborhood Bible Studies: “I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all that I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.”

Debbie is blessed to be married to Mark for more than half her life, to be the mother of 2 married children, and now Dee Dee to her grandchildren, Maddox and Joshua! She is an avid collector of heart rocks and shells, a lover of color and always looking for a reason to go to the beach.

Rebecca Davie

After living in the same house for 11 years, Rebecca and her family moved away from the city and into the quiet of rolling fields and running waters. Stepping out of her comfort zone, Rebecca asked her new neighbors to gather and study the Bible. In such a small community, she hoped for just one person to join. But God had bigger plans – not one, but nine women responded!

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 42:18-19

Rebecca lives on the Etowah River with her ever-patient husband, two teen boys, a nine-year-old diabetic dog who shadows her every move, and the recent addition – a rescue mix puppy who loves to hike.

Sherri Edwards

Professional Outreach & Development

Sherri believes that the only thing better than delving into God’s Word is delving in with a few others! Through studying God’s Word, Sherri discovered God’s heart for us all; we would know that our worth, value and significance comes from being loved by God! “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Psalms 139: 14

Sherri remembers the nervous jitters and excitement of stepping out in faith and starting her first lunchtime Bible Study with co-workers in 2007. Coming to NBS2GO after 13 years of working as a leader in the professional world, Sherri has a heart for seeing God open doors for Christ centered conversations not only with the neighbors we live near but the ‘neighbors’ we work with as well.

In her spare time, Sherri enjoys swimming, biking and running with her favorite little canine running buddy, Snickers.

“He holds success in store for the upright, He is a shield to those whose walk is blameless.” Proverbs 2:7

Joan Parsons

In 2007, though she felt like a “big chicken,” Joan knew that she wanted to step out in faith and begin a neighborhood Bible study. With her palms sweating, she handed out flyers and prayed. Three women came, including herself and her co-leader! God showed up then and He shows up now…with quite a few more than three. But for more than increased numbers, she is grateful that her neighbors know there is a safe place to come with their questions about God. She desires to provide an environment where women can begin or deepen their walk with Christ through studying God’s Word, build friendships with one another and influence their families for Christ. Joan is a recent widow and mother to three boys and a girl.

“Without faith it is impossible to please God.” Hebrews 11:6

 Linda Shaffer

Global Connector

Linda believes that God’s Word holds the answers to all our needs. After living overseas for 19 years, she returned to the United States with a desire to create a caring community of neighbors by hosting a Bible study. For several years, she thought of all kinds of reasons why it wasn’t the right time. Soon after, a friend challenged her by asking, “Hey, when are you going to start that Bible study you keep talking about?” Linda stepped out in faith and began. It’s been exciting for her to see women from five different countries gather to study the Word of God, pray for and serve one another. Linda loves spending time with her husband, Walter, and their five children, ages 26 to 14. She also enjoys tennis and gardening.

“Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalms 37:4

Caroline Schuler

Translation Coordinator

Caroline is a student at the Moody Bible Institute and is in the process of earning her Bachelor’s degree in Ministry Leadership. As part of her passion for global missions, God led her to become fluent in Spanish and to serve as a Spanish interpreter with Medical Missions Ministries in Guatemala for two summers. Caroline is a member of her mother’s Neighborhood Bible Study, loves spending time with her older brother and sister, and is a proud aunt of two nieces. Caroline enjoys experiencing people coming to faith in Jesus Christ.

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10

Jan Schuler

Marketing and Promotion

Following the tragic loss of one of her children in 1992, Jan was invited by a neighbor to attend Debbie McGoldrick’s NBS. Through understanding God’s presence and purpose in trials and receiving the encouragement and love of neighbors, her heart began to heal. She knows personally the power of NBS to change lives and grow women in their faith journey. She began an NBS when she moved to a new neighborhood in 1998, and she is passionate about making NBS available to women at all stages of life. Whether they are exploring the Bible for the first time or desiring to grow in their faith, women love to meet in the comfort of a neighbor’s home to study and discover together God’s life-transforming Word.

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” John 13:34

Tara Thompson

Website Administrator, Photographer

Tara attended her first Bible Study ever, in the summer of 2001 shortly after re-dedicating her life to Jesus Christ. She was hooked and continued to attend a study outside of her neighborhood until the spring of 2005. She felt the nudge to do something in her own neighborhood for more than a year but kept coming up with excuses for putting it off. The desire to follow God’s will overwhelmed her fear, and she stepped out in faith to start a Bible Study in her own neighborhood in the fall of 2005. “God has done some amazing things in the women and families in my neighborhood and continues to blow me away with the hearts that He is bringing to the study and to Himself,” Tara said. She loves being a wife to John and mom to their three boys. With her treadmill and neighborhood tennis courts, she maintains her sanity amidst the craziness of this life, while loving every minute of it.

“And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” Colossians 2:6-7
