“They threw me to the animals. No one wanted me.”

Caroline’s soft voice drew the crowd closer. With attentiveness that no one expected nor planned for, her authentic words of vulnerability accomplished what some speakers only dream of but never achieve.

For Caroline, her size and stature began her testimony before she uttered the first word.

At age 18, she reached her full height, 3’7”. From birth, it was discovered that she had a rare bone and joint condition that would classify her as a “little person”. She was born on 2/10 at 2:10pm. Her life verse is Ephesians 2:10, “For I am God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

Caroline, currently 22 years old, who serves with our NBS2GO team, was asked to speak at a Ugandan conference for Christian women. The audience of 2,000 women was described as seeking to grow in their relationship with the Lord and learning how to reach out to others. Because of political turmoil within Uganda, Caroline was not able to physically attend the conference. She was videoed and then displayed on a large screen. But the lack of her being there had no bearing on her influence. Caroline’s title was “Fearfully and wonderfully made: God delights in you and has created you for a purpose.”

Pastor Elijah, the director of the conference, reported one specific story. One young lady (24 years old) shared with him the impact of Caroline’s story. “I was very, very thin when I was a young child. No one thought I would amount to anything. In our culture, children like me are thrown to animals. Discarded. This happened to me. No one wanted me. By God’s grace I was rescued. But I have always struggled with emotional hurt from being thrown to animals and rejected. The heartache has been almost too much to bear. For the first time, after hearing AND seeing Caroline speak, I am set free from this bondage. I heard Caroline say that she IS God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works. Despite her stature, she stood “tall” and firm in the authority of God and His Word. Now I know that God has a plan for me. I can follow God with all my heart and He will use me to have an impact for Him.”
