Listening Journal: Rest and Release

Listening Journal: Rest and Release

I often wonder….what if my desire to listen to God equaled His longing to speak personally with me? Listening prayer for me is simply being still in God’s presence, anticipating His voice, recording His words, impressions, or pictures, and then responding in love, faith and obedience to what He whispers. It’s absolutely amazing — I always receive exactly what my heart is longing for — sweet companionship, fresh encouragement and specific guidance. I’m praying that this excerpt from my “Listening Journal” will encourage you to begin a practice of listening to God. –Debbie

Do not do what others can do!

You are not a one-man show.

Do only what I guide you to do… repent of your busyness, return to only knitting the next row that I give you to knit.

Keep your eyes on me – not the future!

“Come to Me with your ears wide open. Listen for the life of your soul is at stake.” Isaiah 55:3

I desire for you to live carefree today! Come restore, let me remind you, a new song to sing, rest and release all to My care. I really desire for you to live carefree this day. The burdens in your life are not intended to weigh you down or tie you up in anxious thought. They are meant to draw you to Me. Your weariness saddens Me. Come, let Me restore your soul. Let Me remind you of who I am. Let me teach you a new song to sing today – a song of praise to Your Savior, a song of gratitude for His care.

Rest and release ALL to My care.

  1. Good words, Debbie. It is not by chance that Silent and Listen are written with the same letters.
