Fresh Bread: Smell, Savor, Slice & Share!

Fresh Bread: Smell, Savor, Slice & Share!

Imagine my Bible study’s surprise, anticipating a homemade treat, when they each reached into the basket and pulled out a stale piece of bread.

I asked….”Why aren’t any of you eating the bread? Would you feed this to anyone? Why not? What’s so bad about stale bread?”

I then passed around a freshly baked loaf of bread, still warm in the wrapper.

I asked….”Who doesn’t want a piece of this deliciously fresh bread? Would you hesitate to share it? What’s the biggest difference between stale and fresh bread?”

In John 6:35, Jesus said, “I am the Bread of Life.  No one who comes to me will ever be hungry again.”

In Matthew 4:4, Jesus said, “The Scriptures say, ‘People need more than bread for their life, they must feed on every Word of God.’ ”

Every day for 40 years, God gave manna to His children to be gathered daily and made into fresh bread. Any manna saved over to the next day became stale and spoiled.

It’s crazy to live on the stale bread from yesterday’s time in the Word, last week’s sermon or Bible Study when you can feast on Fresh Bread daily.

Open the wrapper of God’s Word – SMELL it afresh.

Take, eat and SAVOR it fully.

SLICE a piece of your daily Fresh Bread, and SHARE it freely.
